I’m Stefan and thinking about when I started arranging makes me feel quite old. :-)
Back in 1997, I started to adapt pop songs for my a cappella group muSix.
What back then was curiosity (and lack of fitting sheet music) soon became my passion and consequently my profession.
2006-2010 I studied Composing/Arranging (Jazz/Rock/Pop) at the Academy of Music „Carl Maria von Weber“ in Dresden while already working as a freelance arranger (for muSix, Sixappeal, Jazzchor Freiburg, Sjaella, Viadrina, maybebop, ONAIR, CONtrust jazz orchestra, Soundchexx and many more).
I became a member of the ChorusOnline team in 2011 (and published more than 30 arrangements here since).
Besides I had the honour to compose music for a musical („The Ghost“, 2009) as well as for 2 short films („Gestalten“, 2012 and „Emma“, 2013). I guess no one ever watched these but it was fun.
2012-2014 I taught arranging at the Academy of Music "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden.
In 2013 I arranged and directed the songs for „The Voices of Winter“ a concert tour with Jocelyn B. Smith and muSix.
Also in that year, I co-founded the vocal band ONAIR with which I won several 1st awards and toured in Europe and worldwide (e.g. Taipei, Chicago, Los Angeles, Moscow, Miami, Tampere).
As a father of (meanwhile) two, I decided to stop touring in 2018 and concentrate on working as a composer and arranger rather than a singer, giving me the freedom to work as flexible as family life asks for.
I stepped up to be a senior arranger at ChorusOnline in 2017, now leading the international team of a cappella arrangers.
In 2018 and 2019 I composed and published several works for choir and children's songs, amongst others performed in a nationwide TV-broadcast church service.
